Thanks to some customers I was able to save this 1998 Toyota Camry Sport from being dragged to the scrapyard. They put the owner in touch with me, through a neighbour, as she really didn't want to scrap her father's car but didn't know what else to do with it. The Camry Sport, and I'm not sure how much of an oxymoron that is as I've not driven it yet, was a Toyota UK product with lowered suspension, retuned chassis, 5 spoke 17" alloy wheels, full body kit and a Connoly leather interior. As it was a one owner car with only 63000 miles on the clock I thought it was worth saving and yesterday my good friend Stu from West Coast Carriers met me at the car with a view to getting it moved. A slight problem, his new trailer was yet to have a winch fitted so I took a foot pump and a battery and hope of good fortune - of course the battery terminals were in the wrong place but if I laid it down a bit I could hook it up and blow me if it didn't fire right up and settle into a very sweet and quiet idle. It was nose in to the garage so this saved a lot of hassle, I simply drove it onto Stu's trailer. By the way I should mention that the car hadn't moved or even been started since before Covid but it's a Toyota so I knew there was every chance it would be ok. Today I gave it a wipe down for a few hours and it's come up lovely. I might even have saved the battery using a mix of chargers and a spare battery to give it some polarity. I'll give it a service and get it tested and then it should be good to go to a new owner, any takers?
