The Tatra 603 that I keep for its owner has had some problems with the clutch hydraulics which I have been trying to sort out. It started with the flexible hose to the slave cylinder but when this was replaced it highlighted an issue with the slave cylinder. This was removed but it was so rusty that it broke during the strip down, the owner sourced a new replacement slave, and a new master for good measure. When I fitted these last week I found that the pipe that runs from the rear bulkhead to the flexible hose fitting was sealed with olives, or not, as in this case. New brass olives were fitted to the pipe and, once I'd machined a mm or 2 from the fitting to allow for the tube nut to be pulled tight, I finally had a sealed system and could bleed it through. A step forward then, until today when I got it outside to give it a wash and found I can't get 1st gear. The shifter on this has always been a bit like stirring cats so something's got to be done, I wonder which of the 20 or so linkages is to blame?
