Rolls-Royce Phantom II in the workshop

The Phantom II I look after has come back for a couple of jobs. I'm going to fit a new cork seal into the fuel tap that site under the Autovac and have removed, cleaned and polished the needle in the float chamber. I've also removed & inspected the distributor cap & adjusted the points. I'm trying to find out why it starts to run badly after an hour's drive but, once it's cooled down a bit, runs fine. It also has a tendency to leak fuel from the overflow after a run. Fuel pipes and filter have also been removed and checked for cleanliness.

Running issues are typical of low vapour pressure fuel. I use plastic loom cover over fuel lines and insulate exhaust on my PIII 3DL100. Did same on 3AX73 and it was a great improvement. You can always hide an in line fuel pump before the Autovac to prevent it vapour locking.

This looks to be a early one with the oil governor system, lots of issues can occur under that cover at the far right of photo!

With PII's there were many changes from 30-35 and the chassis number is always helpful when posting issues. Per above, I am assuming premium, ethanol free fuel as otherwise you will definitely have issues.
