Reliant Scimitar GTE in the workshop

This Scimitar has recently undergone a lot of work elsewhere, a chassis change from what I can see, but it's experiencing some teething problems. The owner came by on Friday so I could have a quick look into why there is significant judder at the steering wheel under braking, while we were standing there talking about it one of the core plugs in the block sprung a leak and it dumped its coolant. Needless to say they wouldn't be driving it home. Some of the core plugs had been replaced when the engine was out but not the main ones in the sides of the block. Fortunately they are reasonably accessible, once the exhaust headers, starter motor and steering column are out of the way. When I got them out today I found 3 of them to be on their last legs, just about rusted through from the inside. I also found 2 more that had been pushed through into the block during a previous replacement and left there to rot. I'm still not entirely sure what is causing the judder, although the pinch bolt on the lower universal joint had too long a shank - the nut was pulled tight on the bolt but it wasn't pinching the joint to the shaft, I'll know more once I've driven it.
