I've always had a bit of a soft spot for the Nissan Figaro but never really seen one up close, now I've got the chance as this was dropped off on Friday for a bit of work. It's been leaking a bit of oil but that's not the main issue, when it turned up is was proper chuffing oil smoke out of the exhaust and running a little warm. The turbocharger fitted to these engines is supposedly good for 60000km, this one has done more than double that so it could be the culprit. It might also be due to worn valve guides and old stem seals as the fault is worse on the over-run.
