The work on the Figaro continued apace since the last post and on Friday it went home. The engine swap went accoring to plan, it only needed a few gaskets to get the assorted parts swapped onto the new one and it went back together with the transmission easily. I built most of up on the bench, including the new turbo, that simplified things. I ended up replacing the steering rack, the rack bushings need special tooling to remove, fortunately there was one on the shelf at the suppliers and it was delivered the next day. The new engine came with instructions to fill it with mineral oil, run it for 20 minutes, drive it for 15 minutes (under 2500 rpm), then change the oil and filter and adjust the valves. It fired up with a little adjustment of the distributor, enough to set the timing and idle, and then ran well while I carried out the aforementioned instructions. I really enjoyed driving it, ideal for buzzing around the lanes.
