It's been a while since I've had anything to say about this job, it turned out the gearbox needed somewhat more that just a new layshaft, the lay gear was also damaged so there was some delay while the owner sourced a replacement. He also had to find a throw-out bearing pivot as the one fitted had a broken retaining spring. With these parts sorted, and new synchro springs all round, I have been able to get the gearbox rebuilt and back in, the rebuilt prop-shaft fitted, everything hooked up and, when fired up, the carburettor mixture and balance set.
