I spent some time today on the Series 2 FHC E-type that came in last week, looking into why it might have been running so badly. An initial inspection revealed a possible cause could be down to a poor seal between the rear Weber and the intake manifold. With this taken care of, and all other carburettor mounting nuts tightened up, and after a check of the ignition system, it fired up easily and exhibited no problems on the test drive. And what a test drive, an on song 4.2 litre XK engine on triple 45DCOEs in an era defining car and on an empty 60mph 2 lane country road that I know well. Nice.
