It was hard to get anything done last week with parts going astray and the interference of Easter so it's been nice to clear the decks a bit with 6 cars now ready to go home. The photo shows the first 3, all picked up yesterday. The service work on the 20 hp Rolls-Royce was straightforward, although I do wish it had central chassis lubrication like the later cars, oiling it by hand is a faff. The clutch failed on the Marina GT the weekend before last so the owner had it towed direct to the workshop. I found the hydraulics in a parlous state, fortunately he already had new old stock master and slave cylinders so I was able to rebuild these with fresh rubber and that did the trick. The MGB faults turned out to be a little more complicated than just the carburettors, it would run but not for long enough for me to tune it up. I could see from my timing light that it was losing spark so replaced the cap, rotor, points and condenser and that did the trick. oh, and I found the plastic fuel sender float had a small crack that had led to it filling with fuel, I had a spare in stock so an easy fix, that got the gauge working.
