1958 Moto Parilla MSDS 231cc
Price: £enquire
1958 Moto Parilla MSDS, matching numbers, 175cc, bought new and exclusively raced by George Rockett until 1962. Developed to a 200cc, 212cc, and finally 231cc in its most competitive form.
Needle bearing rocker arms were developed by George on this machine, later adopted by the factory for their racing engines.
Use of dual ignition, 32 mm carb and external oil lines from the cylinder head to eliminate oil seepage.
The bike still retains its Oldani front brake and aluminum cylinder.
This machine won the Canadian National Championship in 1962, beating all the Ducatis. The last time the bike was raced was in the Spring of 1963. After this race, the engine was "freshened" in preparation for its next race. At this point, the bike was retired and was never raced or ridden again.
As a result of George Rockett's success on this machine, George was offered a position on the Ducati factory team for the next seven years. In George's own words, "It was far cheaper to offer me a ride than to try to beat me on the Moto Parilla 231.
This machine has been with the current owner for 42 years and is exactly as it left the track in 1963 under the ownership of George Rockett.
A certified affidavit dated June 5, 2000, signed by George Rockett verifying the history of the machine is on file for review.
